Zvěrotice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The historic centre of Zvěrotice comprises the original agricultural farmsteads, their rear farm buildings, and adjacent gardens and orchards. It is designated as an architecturally valuable part of the area.

Townscape and public space

The central village square is laid out as a circular square with a broad public space. Original agricultural farmsteads surround it, while an extensive network of paths provides access to the square. The chapel on the village square is dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk.

Southwest of Zvěrotice, on the embankment of Road II/135, there is a Neoclassical niche chapel. It is a distinctive landmark in the landscape and an important landscape-defining element.

History

A historical record from 1460 mentions Zvěrotice together with two mills and the forests known as “Na Libuši”. The first documented reference to Zárubův Mlýn mill dates from 1648; the Záruba family milled there for almost 200 years. Zárubův Mlýn mill stands west of Zvěrotice on the Černovický potok stream.

The name Zvěrotice is explained as being derived from the personal name Zvěrota, which is considered to have been the name of the founder of the settlement of Zvěrotice.

Paths and landscape

Cycle Route 1180 runs from Soběslav via Zvěrotice to Sedlečko u Soběslavě. Within the administrative area of Zvěrotice, it follows a local road between existing buildings towards Sedlečko u Soběslavě.

A blue-marked hiking trail runs northeast of Zvěrotice. The surroundings of Zvěrotice feature a picturesque South Bohemian landscape with fields, pastures, ponds and copses.

Zvěrotice’s public multi-purpose sports field is designed for small-sided football, handball, foot tennis, volleyball, floorball, basketball and tennis on artificial turf. The sports field and the associated service building are available to the public and, by arrangement, can be made available at specific times for sports and social events.
