Tabor: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Tábor presents its history in specific locations: the Husite Museum is housed in the Old Town Hall building on Žižkovo náměstí. The museum also includes an underground tour route approximately 500 metres long, with five stops explaining the former use of the cellars. The Old Town Hall is also home to the Gothic Town Hall Hall. At 300 m², it is the second-largest Gothic hall of its kind in the Czech Republic.

History and Culture

The 25-metre-high Kotnov Tower is open to visitors as a viewing tower; the ascent leads up 155 steps. The pilgrimage church complex of Klokoty is also part of Tábor’s historic character. It was founded around 1700 on the site of a former Gothic church, which was completed in 1714. The complex is designated as a national cultural monument. Due to extensive reconstruction, it is closed to the public from 8 April 2026 to 31 December 2027.

The Křížem krážem Klokoty educational trail provides information about the history and natural features of Klokoty on ten information panels; it also covers the pre-Hussite history of the site. Over the course of the year, Táborská setkání is associated with September and Táborské Vánoce with December.

Trails and Landscape

The Stříbrná educational trail runs along the Tábor–Horky–Větrovy route and explores the region’s long mining history. The trail is 3,500 m long, has eight stops and can be reached using MHD lines 30, 60 and 61.

The 55-km-long Lužnice Valley Trail runs through the deep valley of the Lužnice and is divided into four daily stages. The historic towns of Tábor and Bechyně lie along its route. Pintovka Forest Park includes a forest fitness area with seven stations and a wildlife area.

The electric railway built by František Křižík, known as the “Elinka”, is also part of the history of local routes and connections: regular service began in 1903.

Nature

ZOO Tábor is home to almost 500 animals and has the protection of endangered animal species as its primary mission. In total, it keeps 80 animal species, half of which are endangered. The zoo’s conservation projects include the reintroduction of the European bison into European nature reserves.
