Kryštof Vratislav built Dírná Chateau on the site of a fortress that burned down in 1636; František Adam Vratislav remodelled it in the Baroque style from 1757 to 1759. The entrance to Dírná Chateau is via a stone bridge leading into the ground floor of the former tower.

Culture and History

The Dírná chateau grounds include a brewery. The Church of Saint Lawrence in Dírná is of Gothic origin and dates from the 14th century. Its main altar features a Gothic wooden statue of Saint Lawrence from the 15th century. The church is a parish church where services are held regularly.

Nature and Landscape

The Dírenský stream flows through Dírná. Its floodplain has a natural stream bed and contains fragments of natural ash-alder floodplain woodland communities. Dírná Chateau Park is a valuable example of landscape gardening.
