Hodětín: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas is a landmark of Hodětín. In the centre of Hodětín stands a chapel with a bell tower. Hodětín is home to historic houses in the peasant Baroque style.

Culture

Hodětín village square is surrounded by ornate farmsteads. The individual farmsteads are often connected to form a continuous row. The façade motifs in Hodětín include a hanging trefoil ornament typical of the Blata region. The granary at house no. 1 in Hodětín bears the year 1818.

A group of rural buildings at house numbers 1, 2 and 4 is considered among Hodětín’s architecturally valuable structures. The traditional raising of the maypole is one of the social events held in Hodětín.

History

One of the first written mentions of Hodětín dates from the 15th century. In 1419, King Wenceslas IV transferred Písek Castle and its appurtenances to Jan Hájek of Hodětín. In 1888, a pagan burial site was discovered in house no. 8, known as U Martínků, in Hodětín.

Hodětín directly borders the villages of Soběslavsko-Veselské Blata. Obora Forest is one of the wooded areas surrounding Hodětín. The beautiful countryside around Hodětín is ideal for hiking. Štičí Pond on the road from Hodětín to Sudoměřice offers an opportunity for swimming.

Cycle paths

Cycle Route 10 runs from Bechyně towards Veselí nad Lužnicí via Blatec, Hodětín, Klečaty and Zálší; it is listed as being 65.72 km long with an elevation gain of 722 m. The cycle section through Hodětín and Březnice continues through the South Bohemian landscape towards Týn nad Vltavou. Cycle Route 8141 runs east of Hodětín.
