Culture and History

The fortress of Zálezly was first mentioned in 1544. The preserved core of the tower-shaped palas is located in a residential building in the southern part of the settlement. The history of the village also includes the former primary school, built in 1872 based on a design by Josef Zítek, and the Chapel of St John of Nepomuk, built in 1852.

Nature and Activities

The Kovanínská zvířátka educational trail begins in Kovanín, a locality of the municipality of Zálezly. Its 3 km section between Kovanín and Budilov runs on a paved surface, forms part of cycle route 1234, and is also suitable for prams. The educational trail has 12 stations with hand-painted animal-shaped stones and is open year-round.

Sports and Meeting Places

The Zálezly children's playground is located in the Za školou sports area. There are two courts there, named after Jenda Benda and Jarda Kudrna, for tennis, Nohejbal and volleyball; the sports area can be reserved for use. The public swimming pool in Zálezly has served as a venue for community celebrations, reunions of former residents and club anniversaries.

A red-marked hiking trail leads from Zálezly towards Věnec and Vimperk.
