Ústrašice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The freely accessible multifunctional sports field in Ústrašice offers facilities for handball, floorball, volleyball and tennis. A cycle path from Planá nad Lužnicí also runs past the site alongside the road to Planá. At the villa in Ústrašice, a workout playground is provided primarily for older children, teenagers and adults for strength training and outdoor exercise.

Culture and History

Ústrašice is associated with the historic tradition of timber rafting; its inhabitants were once called “Prameňáci”. One of Ústrašice’s sights is the rural farmstead at No. 6.

A restored brick chapel stands on the northern edge of Ústrašice. The present building was reconstructed in 2009 after the former structure was destroyed in a car accident on 8 December 2008. Ústrašice was first mentioned in 1405; at that time, Václav Tóma z Ústrašic held the village.

Routes

The marked 66-kilometre circular route “Poloostrov mezi Lužnicí a Lužnicí” begins in Planá or Tábor and runs along roads, cycle paths and forest tracks, passing through Želeč and Skalice via Ústrašice before continuing to Planá.

Community Life

A Christmas table tennis tournament is held in Ústrašice every year. The municipality expressly invites visitors to take part in the cultural life of the village.

Nature

The protected features in the Lužnice area include the habitats of the critically endangered thick-shelled river mussel (Unio crassus), the endangered weatherfish (Misgurnus fossilis) and the critically endangered Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra).
