Culture and History

Northeast of the centre of Oldřichov, the Church of St Philip and St James stands on a ridge, forming a local landmark visible from afar. Its Romanesque-Gothic core is surrounded by a cemetery. A Baroque gateway decorated with statues by Štěpán Pagan encloses the church. It was built as an Early Gothic structure in the mid-13th century and remodelled in the 1380s. The parish church of Oldřichov was first mentioned in 1357.

Experiences

Oldřichovská konírna offers stays for children lasting one or two weeks, as well as weekend stays. During these stays, the children look after the horses and their accommodation and receive riding lessons. The village pond is also part of the local history: in 1996, it was illuminated so that it could be used as an ice-skating rink in winter.

Geographical Setting

The preserved Šelmberk castle ruins are visible from Oldřichov. Its tower can be climbed via a reconstructed staircase and offers views of the surrounding landscape. The Kovářka lookout tower in neighbouring Moraveč also houses a blacksmithing museum. The stone-built tower is 13 metres high and has a steel spiral staircase with 50 steps leading to a wooden viewing platform.
