Meziříčí: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The name Meziříčí derives from its geographical location between the two local watercourses, Vlásenický and Pilský. The first written mention of Meziříčí dates back to 1379.

Culture and History

St. Anne’s Chapel is a faithful copy of its predecessor from 1846. May devotions are held there regularly, as well as a Mass on St. Anne’s Day. At the entrance to Meziříčí stands a pillar-shaped wayside shrine dating from 1853. In the past, a procession travelled from Dražice along the main road to this shrine in Meziříčí on St. Mark’s Day. Meziříčí also has a brick bell tower.

Chateau and Traces of the Past

The “Meziříčský zámek” is a simple, rectangular, single-storey building with a tympanum facing the courtyard. It was visited by Oskar Nedbal, Karel Hašler, Eduard Kohout and Karel Weis. The “Meziříčský zámek” and its adjoining park are currently in a neglected condition.

The former brewery has been completely demolished; only minor remains of the walls can still be seen among the trees and shrubs.

Water and Landscape

The Hlinkovák pond in Meziříčí was revitalised in 2019 and 2020; the completed project was accepted on 17 December 2020. The landscape around Meziříčí is suitable for cycling tours and walks.

Music and Events

The MexWave association supports a youth music group that was originally called Mexická vlna. The association organises performances by the music group as well as cultural events to support its activities. On 10 September 2022, a documented football match between local residents and newcomers took place in Babiččino údolí.
