The municipality of Dobronice u Bechyně extends across an area of 832 ha on both sides of the Lužnice.
History and Culture
The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is part of the local history. It is an early Gothic Roman Catholic church and has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 1958.
The historic complex of Dobronice Castle is located above the Lužnice. Its core probably dates from the first half of the 14th century; a mighty cylindrical tower and remnants of the walls have survived.
Nature
The Kukle Nature Park extends into parts of the cadastral area of Dobronice u Bechyně. It is intended to preserve the landscape character of an extensive forest complex with significant natural and aesthetic values.
Things to Do
A red-marked hiking trail leads from the Lužnice to the ruins of Dobronice Castle. The surrounding area can also be explored by bicycle: the 45 km or shortened 35 km Bechyně–Dobronice–Stádlec–Želeč–B. Smoleč–Bechyně cycling route passes through Dobronice u Bechyně.
Kemp Dobronice offers tent pitches, accommodation in wooden cabins, a kiosk with refreshments, and storage for boats and bicycles. Fishing and boating on the Lužnice are possible in the vicinity of Kemp Dobronice.
