Svrabov was first mentioned in a written document in 1318; at that time, it was the seat of Vladik Bartoš of Svrabov and Klokoty.

History and Culture

The once-extensive park of Svrabov Castle is neglected. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary commemorates a personal occasion: after 1918, it was built by the local lord of the castle out of gratitude for his son’s safe and healthy return from the First World War. The chapel was restored around the year 2000.

Another link to cultural history is Josef Václav Kamarýt. The well-known Czech poet of the National Revival and Catholic priest stayed as a guest at Svrabov Castle.

Routes and Landscape

Svrabov is served by the Tábor–Radkov–Borotín–Jistebnice bus route. Nasavrky is one of the nearest railway stops to Svrabov.

Cycle Route 11 passes through Svrabov. Local tourist routes also run through the surrounding area, and the Tábor–Prčice–Tábor route passes through Svrabov. A described cycling tour to Borotín uses Cycle Route 1175 for a 2.5-km section.

The surrounding area is characterized by numerous ponds, field copses, fields, and meadows. Thus, in addition to the historic sites, the various landscapes around Svrabov are also focal points of the routes.
