Pohnánec lies west of Polánka Nature Park, which extends over 15.6 km² east of the village. The small village offers a variety of experiences shaped by its natural surroundings, marked trails and local history.
Landscape and Trails
Mount Homole rises above Pohnánec to a height of 668 metres. From Homole, there are extensive views across the landscape as far as the Bohemian Forest. The meadows below the summit of Homole are considered a lookout point offering long-distance views, particularly to the west.
Three marked hiking trails meet at the Pod Homolí trail junction below Homole. A red-marked hiking trail also passes through Pohnánec. The landscape around Pohnánec is ideal for walks.
History and Local Traditions
The ruins of Polánka Fortress lie less than one kilometre south of Pohnánec. The first owners of the fortress were Přibík and Vilém of Polánka in 1382.
Since 2009, the “Pohnánecká lávka”, a humorous competition involving crossing a pond, has been a local tradition.
In the Village
A recently restored chapel stands in Pohnánec’s village square. Pohnánec also has a natural outdoor swimming pool.
Getting Around
The “Vítězství u Mladé Vožice” cycling tour passes through Pohnánec. The village is connected to Tábor by bus via Chýnov.
