Nature and Landscape

The Borkovická blata Nature Reserve is located in the cadastral area of the municipality of Borkovice and is named after this municipality. It was first designated on 19 September 1980. It protects a transitional bog ecosystem of a basin bog with remnants of bog pine forests, as well as characteristic flora and fauna.

Paths and Village Square

The Blatská Trail features information boards, plant labels, signposts and maps of the route. It is visited throughout the year, including in winter.

Borkovice village square has a small playing field for informal sports. The village square also has seating and rest facilities.

Surroundings

In the immediate vicinity of Borkovice are the U Kamene hill [Dráchov] and the Za Humny hill [Žíšov u Veselí nad Lužnicí]. Further afield in the region are Hůrka Mountain and Hora Mountain.

Culture and Rural Surroundings

The chapel on Borkovice village square is surrounded by farmhouses. Further afield in the Borkovice region is the Church of Svatý Jan.

The “In the Footsteps of Rustic Baroque” tourist route runs along the Blatská stoka on a yellow-marked hiking trail towards Borkovice; Borkovice is approximately 5.8 km away.
