Drachov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Dráchov is currently particularly popular with water sports enthusiasts who navigate the Lužnice River. On the Lužnice in Dráchov, there is a bathing area on the right bank of the river, 200 metres from the new bridge. The water depth there ranges from approximately 30 centimetres to 1 metre; the area is considered suitable for children.

Nature and River Landscape

The Dráchovské tůně Nature Reserve protects oxbow lakes and cut-off tributaries of the Lužnice, floodplain pools, floodplain meadows and wetland vegetation in depressions formed by former river channels. Dráchovské louky also protects oxbow lakes and cut-off tributaries of the Lužnice, floodplain pools, floodplain meadows and habitats of endangered species. Populations of the thick-shelled river mussel (Union crassus), weatherfish (Misgurnus fossilis) and Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra), as well as their habitats, are found in Dráchovské louky.

History and Church

Dráchov is associated with an archaeological site, a parish village documented in the 14th century and a fortress; the Gothic Church of Saint Wenceslas is first mentioned in 1353. The Church of Saint Wenceslas in Dráchov contains tombstones of the Lords of Dráchov and other former owners of the municipality, including Wratislaw von Mitrowitz.

The Church of Saint Wenceslas has three Gothic bells; one of them bears a dragon relief. A pond called Návětří can still be found near the former fortress. An old barn stands above the farmstead; it is considered to be the former fortress of the Lords of Dráchov.
