Řepeč: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Příběničky is a late-medieval castle complex with an outer bailey and a fortified suburb, which was connected by paths to Příběnice Castle on the opposite bank of the Lužnice River. Příběničky was destroyed in 1437 and never rebuilt. The grounds of Příběničky Castle include a quarry for extracting building stone.

Archaeology and History

The prehistoric burial ground near Řepeč comprises at least 68 burial mounds arranged in irregular rows and was used during the Bronze Age and Hallstatt period. The burial ground in the Atlas forest near Řepeč originally comprised approximately 40 to 50 Bronze Age and Hallstatt burial mounds. The 42 burial mounds found there are considered evidence of the settlement of this area by the Tumulus culture in the Middle Bronze Age.

On 28 May 1283, Bishop Tobiáš sold Řepeč to Jindřich of Rožmberk because of its remote location. The village then belonged, together with 20 lán, to the Příběnice estate. In the Řepeč municipal plan, a chapel is designated as an architectural value A1.

Orientation

The burial ground near Řepeč is located in wooded terrain east of Kášovice. The position N 49°24'12.89", E 14°32'17.49" is given as the access point. For the grounds of Příběničky Castle, a northwestern navigation point at N 49°23'34.45", E 14°33'23.39" is given.

From Řepeč, approximately 4.5 km of unmarked forest paths lead to Příběničky; orientation is based on a map. Admission to Příběničky is free, particularly during the vegetation-free season.

Landscape and Natural Environment

Řepeč lies in the Bechyňská pahorkatina geomorphological region within the Lužnice River basin. The area has gently hilly terrain with a comparatively high proportion of forest.

The cadastral area of Řepeč is touched by the European Site of Community Importance CZ0313106 “Lužnice a Nežárka”. The administrative area contains valuable natural areas with forests, bodies of water, and elements of the ecological stability system.

In the wider regional surroundings of Řepeč, the “Lužnice a Nežárka” area features near-natural to natural river sections with relatively low water pollution and suitable riverbed substrates; regulated sections alternate with relatively near-natural areas.

Local Tradition

The traditional Řepeč pilgrimage in 2024 featured live music, fairground rides, and a shooting gallery.
