The Beneš Villa in the historic part of Sezimovo Ústí is a prominent cultural attraction: the villa, with its adjoining park and memorial, is located at the confluence of the Kozský potok and Lužnice rivers and is the most important tourist attraction in the historic part of Sezimovo Ústí.

Culture

The visitor tour of the Beneš Villa begins in the Dr. Edvard Beneš Pavilion, leads through the adjoining park to the Beneš family villa, and includes stations with audio-guide information about Hana and Edvard Beneš and their life in Sezimovo Ústí. The Beneš Villa is a memorial to Hana and Edvard Beneš that is regularly open to visitors. In the Dr. Edvard Beneš Pavilion, an exhibition presents Edvard Beneš's statesmanship and democratic legacy, as well as the family life of Edvard and Hana Beneš in the villa in Sezimovo Ústí.

History

Kozí hrádek has been a national cultural monument since 30 March 1962. On the lawn next to the Sezimovo Ústí municipal office building, visitors can see a stone baptismal font, window sections, and other architectural elements from the vanished town that existed here from the 13th century until 1420.

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross formed the centre of Starý Tábor and was consecrated in 1831. On Tomáš Baťa Square in Sezimovo Ústí, a sundial has displayed true solar time as well as calendar dates for the solstices and equinoxes since 2005.

Nature

Přírodní památka LUNA is a 1.7-hectare, sun-exposed south-facing slope on the right bank of the Kozský potok, next to the “Pod Letištěm” allotment garden colony and opposite the open-air cinema. It protects thermophilic grass and herb vegetation as well as heat-loving animal species, including lizards and vipers.
