In Lužice U Netolic, equestrian activities, marked routes, village architecture and traces of peat history come together. The Lužický dvůr equestrian centre offers riding lessons and trail rides; the trail rides always take place under the supervision of an experienced instructor.
Routes
The RCH3 field path connects Netolice and Lužice via Horánek and offers cyclists and pedestrians a shortcut between the two places.
The educational cycling route No. 1104, “Historická krajina Netolicka”, runs through Lužice. In the Netolice area, it forms a circular route of approximately 50 km with 16 marked stops and information panels in three languages. There, the cycling route follows paved paths through easy terrain and can be divided into several stages. The cycling tour “Podhůřím Blanského lesa do Holašovic” passes through Lužice as stop 14.
A blue-marked hiking trail also runs through Lužice from Netolice through the Blanský les to Kuklov and Kleť. On the listed hiking and cycling route, Lužice is 18.5 km from Netolice square.
Villagescape and History
A niche chapel stands beside the old road to Netolice. This road probably followed one of the routes of the old trade road, known as the Linecká, which connected Bohemia and the Austrian lands.
A wooden folk-style belfry stands at the corner of the village square. Lužice also has folk-style agricultural farmsteads of the so-called longitudinal type. The gap left by the demolition of the large Hojdaroviny estate is preserved on the village square. Rows of stone walls run along the road.
Nature
Borkoviště is a bog of approximately 2 hectares in the Lužice Forest near the cycling route. The historical manual peat extraction at Borkoviště was called “borkování”. In the 18th and 19th centuries, peat was extracted there for heating and as bedding for livestock.
The area of Lužické letiště is considered a find site for South Bohemian moldavites. Lužické letiště is frequently used for model aircraft competitions.
