Chrášťovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Chrášťovice is a place whose distinctive features are reflected in its local history, rural architecture, landscape and traditional events.

Culture and History

At House No. 9, there is a wayside shrine and a cross. In older documents, Chrášťovice was called Krašťovice; by an edict of the provincial administration dated 22 February 1924, the name was changed to Chrášťovice.

Chrášťovice is the birthplace of Tomáš Čapek. The former president of the Bank of Europe was a jurist and lawyer, writer and historian; he was born in Chrášťovice u Strakonic on 6 December 1861.

Farmstead No. 39 is registered as an immovable cultural monument under registration number 32054/3-5159. The rural farmstead dates from the first half of the 19th century. Its buildings line a very narrow rectangular courtyard; on the western side stands a modernised rectangular residential building with a south-facing panelled gable and side wings.

In the “Na skalici” area, on the boundary between the cadastral areas of Leskovice and Chrášťovice, there is a preserved archaeological site with burial mounds. The village chapel stands in the village square of Chrášťovice and is designated as an architectural asset. In the lower part of the village square, there is also a memorial to the victims of the First World War.

House No. 16 bears the designation “House of the Čapek Brothers”; beautiful wayside shrines stand nearby.

Landscape and Surroundings

East of Chrášťovice lies the U Trpaslíka spring, a designated landscape asset. There are numerous ponds in the surroundings of Chrášťovice.

The deep forests around Chrášťovice are visited by mushroom pickers in summer. The surroundings of Chrášťovice are also used by cycling tourists.

Village Life and Events

There is an inn in the centre of Chrášťovice with seating on a terrace that can be used in summer. Traditional pilgrimage celebrations in Chrášťovice include a small-sided football tournament and a ceremonial procession of the volunteer firefighters to the chapel.

At the beginning of September, the fire brigade in Chrášťovice organises the “Firefighters’ Farewell to Summer” event in conjunction with a ZHVB competition.
