Brezi: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Březí features a landscape where bodies of water, fields and forests lie close together. This mosaic-like character is particularly pronounced in the western part of the landscape around Březí. Amphibians are among the defining natural features of the protected wetlands and pond landscapes.
Nature and Landscape
The Rybník Vočert a Lazy natural monument is a protected wetland system consisting of two ponds and a shallow water basin. The fire-bellied toad and other amphibians are frequently found there. The natural monument also includes the cadastral area of Březí u Blatné. Rybník Vočert a Lazy is also one of the most significant habitats of the fire-bellied toad in the Czech Republic.
The Újezdec nature reserve extends across the cadastral areas of Březí u Blatné and Újezdec u Bělčic. It protects pond communities and preserved adjacent habitats containing specially protected animal species as well as significant stands of aquatic macrophytes. This landscape area also includes Újezdec – Planinský rybník and Kozor: the two small ponds form a cascade in a shallow depression, with rich amphibian populations, and are considered a significant habitat of the fire-bellied toad in the Czech Republic.
Village Culture and History
A Baroque chapel dating from 1836 stands on the village square in Březí. Since 1997, it has been dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint Anthony. A cross dating from 1860 stands on the hill towards Hvožďany. At the eastern edge of the village there is another cross, dating from 1907, which a local resident had erected as a sign of penance.
The stone cross on the village square in Březí was erected in 1908. Next to it stands a memorial to the victims of the First World War. Březí also has a restaurant. In the courtyard of the local restaurant at house no. 33 stands the protected Divadelní lípa. The tree is 18 metres tall and has a trunk circumference of 675 centimetres.
