Krejnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Krejnice, with a population of 80, lies in the picturesque foothills of the Šumava Mountains, 18 kilometers west of Strakonice, at an altitude of 524 meters and on the border with the West Bohemian region. The hilly landscape around the village consists of fields, meadows, pastures, and forests. Krejnice lies above the valleys of the Vojnický and Mačický streams.

The landscape shapes the character of Krejnice: around the village, agricultural areas and forests alternate across hilly terrain. Krejnice is suitable for hiking tourism. The surrounding landscape is also suitable for more challenging cycling tours.

Culture and History

The chapel dedicated to Saint Martin stands on the village green in Krejnice and was built in the mid-19th century. Another attraction in Krejnice is a 19th-century farmstead with a peasant-Baroque gable.

The first written mention of Krejnice dates back to 1045. In that year, the village, together with several surrounding villages, belonged to Břevnov Monastery. In 1264, Zdeslav of Kasejovice, a courtier of King Přemysl Otakar II, received Krejnice from Břevnov Monastery in exchange for several villages near Prague.
