Číčenice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A distinctive local feature in Číčenice is the Chapel of St. Wenceslas: the listed, brick-built structure with a rectangular floor plan stands in the centre of the municipality on the village green. The octagonal lantern belfry rises from the roof ridge.

Culture and history

House no. 17 has two storeys and was built predominantly using timber-frame construction; its gable façade faces the village green.

Farmstead no. 11 with a smithy was probably built in the 18th century and remodelled around 1848. The smithy, with accommodation for the journeyman, is a preserved example of the working and living spaces of a craft business from the 19th century and a direct testament to the development of municipal smithies in South Bohemia.

Getting around

Číčenice railway station is located on lines 190 České Budějovice–Strakonice–Plzeň, 193 Netolice–Týn nad Vltavou and 197 Číčenice–Nové Údolí. A waiting room is available there for passengers.

In the immediate vicinity, Jaroslav, a flooded open-pit mine, is a place visited by tourists and anglers. Also nearby is Klús, a remote isolated settlement where Vít Fučík Kudlička lived.

The “Za krokodýly do Protivína” cycling loop route passes through Číčenice and is approximately 35 km long. A hike to the local parts of Strpí and Újezdec is also recommended.
