Jinočany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Jinočany combines local history with bodies of water and routes that run through the town and its wider surroundings. Between the chapel, wayside cross, pond, and historical traces, several distinctive features can be found that make the town concrete and multifaceted.

Culture and Local History

The Jinočanský kříž is a stone wayside cross made of Lochkov marble and orthocere limestone. It dates from 1862 and was probably created by a local stonemason. It was moved from a busy intersection to a quiet location beside the chapel in the town center.

The Jinočanská kaplička was built in 1903 as a fire brigade bell tower and primarily as a functional building, rather than as a religious structure. Above all, it was intended to serve as a fire station for the fire brigade association founded the previous year. From 2007 onward, it was once again used for wedding ceremonies, welcoming new citizens, and other festive occasions. The Škroby mine was also located southwest of Jinočany.

Water and Landscape

Mirešický rybník, also known as Malý rybník, serves as a multipurpose pond or reservoir.

Fishing takes place at the Mirešák pond near the Mirešice estate. In summer, swimming is possible there.

Routes Through the Town

The Vintířova stezka trail runs through Jinočany to the abandoned village of Krteň and then continues along the renewed Krteňská cesta toward Stodůlky and Řepy. The new section of the Vintířova stezka is 136 kilometers long and can be divided into six stages.

Getting There

Jinočany can be reached by bus routes 309 and 310 from Zličín, as well as by route 352 from Luka. By train, it can be reached from Smíchovské nádraží station in the direction of Beroun.

Further Historical Traces

Saint Gunther is said to be buried at Břevnov Monastery, where his symbolic tomb can also be found.
