Tachlovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Tachlovice preserves notable reminders of its local history. These include the Church of St. James the Elder and the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows; at the same time, the village lends its name to an important geological anomaly.

Culture

The freestanding Church of St. James the Elder in Tachlovice was rebuilt and consecrated on October 21, 1742. It stands on the site of a Romanesque church. The Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows was first mentioned in 1745. It regained its original appearance when Jakubská náves was renovated in 2016. The chapel stands on the northern edge of Jakubská náves and is one of the oldest architectural monuments in Tachlovice.

The cemetery also preserves historical details. Its entrance is through a simple Baroque gate with a cornice divided by segmental forms. The Tachlovice cemetery also contains a pyramid-shaped gravestone dating from 1798.

The more recent history of the village includes the Tachlovice memorial willow: around the turn of 2023 and 2024, the last branches with new growth broke off, leaving only a remnant of the trunk.

Nature

The Tachlovický zlom is an important geological anomaly named after Tachlovice. Fossils occur in the limestone deposits in the Tachlovice area; in the surrounding region, the paleontologist Joachim Barrande made significant discoveries.

Local Life

TC Tachlovice has four clay courts and a tennis school. Another longstanding local tradition is the competition for historic motorcycles and automobiles, Tachlovický trojúhelník. It has been held since 1976 and is now considered traditional and well-known.
