Vestec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Vestec, an educational planetary trail begins at the crossroads of the cycling routes by Vestecký rybník: over 1.4 km, information boards provide details about all the planets in the Solar System. The planetary trail also includes a planetarium climbing structure depicting the most common constellations.

Nature and Trails

The recreational area around Vestecký rybník includes a footbridge and several viewing pontoons. From there, Alej svobody leads towards Hrnčíře, following an old field track. It is also part of the yellow-marked KČT hiking trail between Kunratice and Průhonice. Alej svobody is lined with fruit trees of old Czech varieties; at its beginning there is also a flower meadow, wooden walkways and seating.

By the retention basin, Alej prince Philipa, an avenue with 100 lime trees, runs along the cycle path towards Kunratice.

Discoveries and Culture

The Dendrologická stezka Vestec, presented in 2024, leads through various parts of the municipality. It introduces 15 trees, with descriptions of their significance and uses available via QR code. In October 2022, a Poesiomat was unveiled in Alej prince Philipa; it recites poems, sings and shares interesting facts about Vestec.

History and Tradition

Around 1360, Vestec, then referred to as “villa Beska”, was first mentioned in writing in connection with the royal castle of Kostelec n/Sázavou, whose domain it belonged to. From 1700, Vestecký rybník, together with the municipality, belonged to the Dolní Břežany estate, which was administered by the Archbishopric of Prague.

The pilgrimage tradition in Vestec continues in a changed form. Nearby there is a stone monument, a bell tower dating from 1831.

Public Places

Sportovní centrum TJ Viktoria Vestec is intended for public use and can, by arrangement, be made available at certain times for educational, sporting, social and commercial activities. During regular open days, Komunitní zahrada Vestec is open to the general public every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; during this time, a traditional sale of farm products takes place.
