Úhonice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
A prominent landmark visible from far away in Úhonice is the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. It was built between 1896 and 1898 in the Neo-Romanesque style according to plans by Eduard Sochor, replacing an older Gothic church dating from 1615. Next to it stands the Baroque cemetery chapel, which dates from 1799.
Culture and History
The façade of the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary in Úhonice faces the Franciscan monastery in Hájek; accordingly, the two form a spiritual unity. Úhonice is also home to the niche chapel of Saint Florian, which is designated an immovable cultural monument. The built-up area of the village also bears a historical designation: it is considered a Category UAN I archaeological area and dates from the Middle Ages to the modern era.
Úhonice was already mentioned in 1143 as a parish village near Unhošť. Since the monastery was founded in 1143, the village belonged to Strahov Monastery; its abbots established a parish church there before 1358. Another testimony to the village’s history is the Úhonice steam mill with a pond at 81 Jenečská and Na Hrázi, which is designated an immovable cultural monument. The mill was founded around 1907 by Václav Klatovský; grain was milled there for forty years.
Nature
There are extensive forest areas in the western part of the Úhonice area. West of Úhonice, there is also a varied landscape with a pronounced relief, particularly a valley leading towards the ponds. Four notable trees in Úhonice are designated as protected memorial trees.
Transport Connections
Regular bus route 307 connects Úhonice with Praha-Zličín, including Metro Line B, and Unhošť.
Special Dates
During the Night of Churches on 29 May 2026, the church was open for viewing from 17:00 to 21:00; there was also a guided tour with commentary of the church, tower and organ.
