Culture and History

Horoměřice was first mentioned in writing in 1273. Prehistoric finds indicate that the Horoměřice area was inhabited during the Knovíz and Únětice cultures. A sandstone menhir in Horoměřice commemorates the Celtic period around 400 BC. The château wing with Chapel No. 1 in the Horoměřice château complex is designated as a protected cultural heritage site.

The traditional Chovatelská expozice drobného zvířectva in Horoměřice features several breeds of rabbits and pigeons, as well as exotic birds. Near Horoměřice are Stará kanalizační čistírna Praha-Bubeneč, a museum, Letohrádek královny Anny, a château, Galerie Rudolfinum, a museum, and the Golz-Kinsky Palace. Botanická zahrada Praha, a botanical garden, is also located nearby.

Landscape

Near Horoměřice are Slovanský ostrov, an island, Velké Benátky, an island, and Veslařský ostrov, an island. Prague lists Kozí hřbety as a locality of interest and value from both a tourist and scientific perspective.

Cycling Routes

The 28-kilometre cycling route 0077 connects Prague with Okoř and passes through Horoměřice. Cycling route A18 “Suchdolská” runs from Sedlec via Suchdol and Kozí hřbety to Horoměřice; currently, only a short section in Suchdol is marked.
