Hostivice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Hostivické rybníky nature trail is approximately 2.5 km long and accessible year-round. At its third station, next to Litovický rybník, there is a birdwatching hut with an information board about the birds that can be observed there.

Nature

The Hostivické rybníky protected area is an important site for breeding, wintering and bird migration. Outside the built-up area, the paths are concentrated mainly around the Hostivické rybníky, which are the city's most important destination for walks.

Culture and History

The historic Hájek–Strahov pilgrimage route ran through Hostivice from Prague's Strahovská brána to Hájek Monastery west of the city. Three niche chapels of the original 20 chapels have been preserved along the pilgrimage route in the Hostivice area; the section near them was reconstructed in 1998–1999 and planted with a lime-tree avenue. The historic centre of Hostivice has been designated a heritage conservation zone.

Hostivice Chateau was built at the end of the 17th century on the site of older farmsteads and was remodelled into its present form by Anna Maria, Grand Duchess of Tuscany, in 1732–1734. The Church of St James was founded in the 13th century, while the Baroque Hostivice rectory was built in 1734–1737. Litovická tvrz was originally a Gothic building erected around 1330 by Bishop Jan IV of Dražice and later converted into a granary in the Baroque style.

Routes and Transport

The first section of the Kladenská Cycle Route runs as a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists from Prague via Hostivice to Hájek. Passenger train services departing from Hostivice are integrated into Prague Integrated Transport (PID).
