Water at the Reservoir
Slapy Reservoir is a recreational area with swimming opportunities, beaches, viewpoints and boat trips. A daily boat service departs from the Slapská přehrada station, stops at nine other stations and ends in Nová Živohošť; the journey takes an average of one hour.
Culture and History
The Church of St Peter and Paul in Slapy was rebuilt and consecrated in 1693 and fully restored in 1912. It has a longitudinal octagonal nave and an octagonal mortuary chapel arranged on the axis of the church. The church can be visited 30 minutes before and after a mass; guided tours are available by telephone appointment.
Slapy Chateau is now a protected cultural monument and a historic building complex on the southern edge of the municipality of Slapy. The site combines historical layers from the medieval period through to the 20th century. The complex includes a Neo-Baroque main building from the 1930s and Baroque auxiliary buildings from the 18th century.
As part of the Letovisko Slapy project, roads, a water and electricity supply, a forest swimming pool and a restaurant were established; several model cottages and villas had already been built in 1935.
