Zlatníky-Hodkovice combines historic buildings with insights into the agricultural past and a local sporting event. In Zlatníky, the church, fortress and preserved structural remains recall different eras, while Hodkovice has its own distinctive features, including a museum and bell tower.

Culture and History

The present-day Church of Saints Peter and Paul was built in 1857 in the Pseudo-Romanesque style. The church in Zlatníky was first mentioned as early as 1377. The Zlatníky fortress is also documented as early as 1314.

Zlatníky was once a village enclosed by stone walls with bastions and a gate. A fortified and walled village of this kind is considered relatively rare. Visible remains of the Zlatníky fortress have been preserved in a restaurant opposite the church in Zlatníky; these include foundations and remnants of cellar rooms.

Hodkovice is also home to a granite bell tower dating from the first half of the 19th century.

Experiences

The Hodkovice Agricultural Museum explains how agricultural work was carried out in the days of grandparents and great-grandparents. Organized groups can arrange a visit of approximately one hour in the morning to the cowshed or biogas plant.

A sporting tradition in Zlatníky is the Zlatnický víceboj. The competition comprises four disciplines: a 50-metre sprint, standing long jump, cricket-ball throw and 200-metre run. In 2026, the Zlatnický víceboj was scheduled to be held for the 11th time.

Local

The local offerings include the AGRO Jesenice u Prahy Mlékomat at Vestecká 2 in Zlatníky-Hodkovice. Fresh dairy products and eggs are sold there.

Landscape

Kamínek is one of the landscape's notable changes. The new hill was formed in 2009 from earth excavated during the construction of a bypass road.
