Hvozdnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hvozdnice is situated amid forests between the Kocába and the Bojovský potok, in the Central Bohemian Uplands, more precisely in the Brdy Mountains. The municipality offers visitors above all opportunities for cycling and hiking.

Landscape and Trails

At 397.3 metres above sea level, Babka Hill is the highest point in the municipality of Hvozdnice. There are also four ponds within the municipality. The blue cycling trail “Po stopách minulosti” runs through Hvozdnice.

Hiking and Cycling

The yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Bojov railway station along a forest path to Hvozdnice. From there, it continues through Hvozdy and Masečín to the Kocába, the Askalona settlement and along the river to Štěchovice. A green-marked hiking trail also begins at Bojov railway station and leads to the Dlouhé louky, past a holiday settlement and the municipalities of Sloup, via Kejsíř, to Davle.

The “Modrý okruh” cycling trail also passes through historically interesting places in the Mníšecko region.

History and Local Culture

The founding charter of Ostrov Benedictine Monastery is also the first written record of Hvozdnice’s existence. Historically, the inhabitants of the Hvozdnice settlement were required to supply the Benedictine monastery with charcoal.

Husův dům is a modernist parish building constructed in 1929–1930 to a design by the Czech architect B. Kozák. In front of Husův dům in Hvozdnice stands a monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars (1914–1918 and 1939–1945).

From Bojov railway station, Husův dům can be reached after 2 km via the yellow-marked trail. Prague city bus route 314 serves the Hvozdnice stop.
