Vlčí: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Vlčí lies in a narrow valley surrounded by forests.

History

Vlčí originated in the early feudal period; the first written mention dates from 1318. In 1822, a synagogue was built near a farmstead for the Jewish community. In 1938, the synagogue was converted into a storage building; its original semicircular windows with painted decoration are still visible inside.

Architectural heritage

Several traditional farmsteads with their gables facing the village road stand along the road through Vlčí. Numerous farm buildings constructed using timber-block construction have survived to this day on several of these farmsteads, particularly granaries and barns. Along the one-sided built-up road towards Kbel, they form an impressive ensemble.

Paths and surroundings

The Count Hanuš educational trail in the surrounding area is approximately 2.4 km long and includes nine stops. It begins in front of the chateau in Ptenín and leads across the Merklínka River into a nearby forest.

Cycle route 2188 passes through Vlčí on the Únětice–Radkovice–Kbel–Měčín connection. The green-marked Měčín–Lužany hiking trail also passes through Vlčí.

Hloupensko is located in the vicinity of Vlčí, approximately 2 km away. The rocks were home to a fortified hilltop settlement, with a barrow cemetery from the Middle and Late Bronze Ages below it.

Traditions

The tradition of “velikonoční koleda”, the Easter singing and collecting custom, is still maintained in Vlčí today. The tradition of putting up a maypole is also still maintained today.
