Ptenín: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Ptenín, historical layers and marked trails meet. A wooden fortress on the site of today’s Ptenín Castle is already mentioned in 1228. The site of Ptenín Castle is described as a Gothic fortress mentioned in 1535, which was remodelled during the Renaissance and subsequently transformed into a Baroque chateau in the first half of the 18th century.

Culture

During the restoration of Ptenín Castle, painted sundials were created on the façade of the south wing in 2020. Their historical existence at this location was confirmed by findings, archival photographs and statements from eyewitnesses. The Naučná stezka Ptenín–Újezdec educational trail begins in front of Ptenín Castle and ends in nearby Újezdec. The Naučná stezka Ptenín–Újezdec is a 2.5 km-long one-way educational trail. The marked continuation follows a 5 km loop around Ptenínská hora and ends again at the starting point by Ptenín Castle. One station on the Naučná stezka addresses the original course of the Merklínka River, which is rich in bends and pools. Every spring, carpets of anemones, buttercups, lesser celandine and lilies of the valley cover the garden of Ptenín Castle.
