Přeštice: Baroque Church, Nature Trail and Regional Crafts
In Přeštice, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary shapes the landscape. It is the largest Baroque church in the Czech Republic outside Prague and was built between 1750 and 1775 according to plans by K. I. Dientzenhofer. Visits are possible by prior arrangement. A single object creates an unusual focal point: two ceramic pigs stand on a pedestal in the grounds of the former agricultural cooperative on the main road from Přeštice to Klatovy. Paths and Movement
The “Se sv. Vojtěchem okolím Přešticka” nature trail was opened on 26 April 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Parish in Přeštice. Its route is divided into 12 stations. For planning a day out, the specific opening date, starting point and number of stations provide different kinds of orientation: they define the route in terms of time, place and structure.
The nature trail is suitable for longer walks and bike rides. Walking and cycling refer to two different ways of using the route, while the 12 stations provide a shared thematic structure.

On a Saturday in October, the “Přeštický kanec” event traditionally takes place in Přeštice’s market square. It is associated with slaughter festivals, competitions, singing and the sale of meat products from the slaughter. At the same time, competition, music and regional products come together there in a single celebration.
