Horní Lukavice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Horní Lukavice is a place with deep historical roots: the municipality is already mentioned in written records from 1216. Tiles and vessels were also found at the site of the Horní Lukavice fortress.

History and Village Character

The village’s past also includes settlements that have disappeared. The village of Lomy was located in the cadastral area of Horní Lukavice, west of the road, and was destroyed by Mansfeld’s troops at the beginning of the Thirty Years’ War. The forest west of Horní Lukavice, now called Háj, marks the site of another village that probably disappeared during the Hussite Wars.

Several historic elements add distinctive accents to the village character. A late Baroque chapel on the village green of Horní Lukavice is listed as an historically valuable object. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk by the main road in Horní Lukavice is likewise considered an historically valuable object.

The historic village centre consists of rural farmsteads surrounding a small rectangular village green. The centre includes farmsteads on the village green with preserved gate structures. It lies east of Road I/27, on the road to Dolní Lukavice and along a local watercourse.

Landscape and Trails

West of Horní Lukavice, the Dražky meadows lead into the U Vojtěcha forest. A recently restored and consecrated wayside shrine stands there, associated with a local tradition concerning Saint Adalbert.

The local cycle route CT 2187 connects Chlumčany and Letiny via Horní Lukavice, Dolní Lukavice, Krasavce, Vodomety and Řenče.

Koupaliště Horní Lukavice is located north of Horní Lukavice on the Lukavický potok stream. Situated behind the village, it serves as a place for recreation and relaxation. Traditional community events are also regularly held in Horní Lukavice. The village has very good bus connections.
