Oplot: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Oplot, examples of sacred architecture stand alongside a regional cycling route and a predominantly flat to gently hilly landscape. Construction of the large Chapel of Our Lady began in 1862; it was completed in 1863 and solemnly consecrated on October 4, 1863.

Culture and History

The Chapel of Our Lady in Oplot is registered as an immovable cultural monument under number 32622 / 4-260. The rectangular building dates from the second half of the 19th century. Its presbytery is closed on three sides, and the chapel also features a Neo-Romanesque triangular gable and a small spire.

The chapel interior was renovated in 2008. During the work, the altar was repaired and the church pews were cleaned. In front of the chapel stands a memorial cross dating from the late 19th century.

On Oplot village square stands a niche chapel with a statue of St. John of Nepomuk dating from the second half of the 19th century. Above the building of the former school stands a small niche chapel with a profiled cornice and an undersized wooden statue of St. John of Nepomuk from the 19th century. There is also a column-shaped wayside shrine with a stepped shaft on a road in Oplot.

Landscape and Cycling Route

The landscape in the Oplot area is predominantly flat to gently hilly. Large fields account for a high proportion of the area, while the forest cover is low and limited to the southern edge of the cadastral area.

Regional cycling route No. 2185 passes through Oplot. Its route leads through Přeštice, Oplot, Soběkury, Otěšice, Ptenín and Křenice.

Pilgrimage

A mass is held during the annual pilgrimage in Oplot’s local chapel.
