Chlumčany U Přeštic: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Chlumčany combines local history, industrial and natural themes with motorcycle history – specifically in two educational trails and at the MotoMuzeum Chlumčany.

Nature and trails

The “Lidé a kultura Chlumčan” educational trail runs around Hujáb Hill (Chlumčany u Přeštic), which is located in the immediate vicinity of Chlumčany. The trail is around 2.8 kilometres long and includes six information stations about the history of Chlumčany. It is suitable for pedestrians, cyclists and families with children, and is accessible with a pushchair. It also leads to the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, formerly called “Matky Boží Pomocné”. The Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is a Baroque building constructed between 1749 and 1751.

A modern megalithic stone circle with 16 large boundary stones, a central menhir and four additional menhirs is located on Hujáb Hill. The “Průmysl a příroda Chlumčan” educational trail is six kilometres long and leads from the market square through the industrial district of Chlumčany to a forest pond. Its information stations include “Keramička Chlumčany – kaolin – bílé zlato” and “Šavlice Chlumčany – rybníky, lesy, přírodní oázy”.

Culture

The MotoMuzeum Chlumčany opened in 2011. Visitors can currently see 160 motorcycles there. The collection includes complete pre-war series of JAWA, ČZ and Praga motorcycles; the exhibition also features a complete collection of ČZ and ESO motocross special machines. The church “Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral” is located in the vicinity of Chlumčany.
