Nevřeň: Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Nevřeň, the “Skryté příběhy” route is an approximately 6 km circular walking trail accompanied by a mobile app and ending at the kaolin mine.

Nature

From Centrum Caolinum, the signposted “POD ZEMÍ” educational trail leads to the entrance of the Nevřeň mine; the route takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes on foot. The educational trail introduces underground ecosystems and the impact of human activity. It includes carved wooden figures of mushrooms and earthworms, as well as climbing elements for children. The temperature underground in the Nevřeň kaolin mine is approximately 10°C.

Culture

Centrum Caolinum Nevřeň features a multimedia exhibition on the history of kaolin mining. At the same time, it is a modern visitor and community centre with facilities for cultural events. Guided tours of the Nevřeň kaolin mine pass through underground galleries and present the local history and former mining methods.

History

The “Skryté příběhy” route was inspired by the fairy-tale film “Čertí brko”, which was filmed, among other locations, in the former underground kaolin mine in Nevřeň. Another special feature is the fire brigade climbing frame in Nevřeň: the concrete monument dates from 1936 and was built by the inhabitants of Nevřeň. Due to its architecture and the choice of building material, it is unique in the Czech Republic.
