In Horní Bělá, the educational and experiential trail Stezka Hornobělskem runs for approximately 15.5 km. The trail can be traversed by bicycle or kick scooter and features 13 stations with information boards and interactive elements.
Activities and events
The Hornobělská 30 is a traditional hiking march held regularly on the third Saturday in February; the event offers 10-, 20- and 30-km routes through the countryside around Horní Bělá. The Memoriál Františka Hebedy is an annual forest and field trial for small-breed dogs. The first edition took place in October 1984; the event has been held continuously ever since.
Culture and history
The Vrtba castle site in Horní Bělá is classified as a significant archaeological site. Hrad Vrtba was one of the noble castles built around the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries; remains of the rampart fortifications and a pond system with a mill have been preserved there.
The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk is designated as a cultural monument. The Chapel of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary was built in the Baroque style in 1736 and is a border chapel between Horní Bělá and Dolní Bělá.
The Megalitický kamenný kruh Horní Bělá is located on a hill above Horní Bělá and is enclosed by 21 large menhirs. The Hornobělské kamenné spirály are rows of stone geopuncture created by geomancers. The installation at Výhledové místo u sv. Martina comprises a large central stone with three cosmograms carved by Jan Tajboš; according to the geomancers, the constellation there is dedicated to the plant world.
Nature
Černý rybník, also called Porajt, is fed by an inflow from Hatě, waterlogged meadows and forest bogs. The pond has presumably been used for recreational purposes for more than 100 years.
