Culture and History

The Church of Saint Lawrence in Krsy is an originally Gothic church from the early 14th century that was later remodelled in the Baroque and Neoclassical styles. Inside, late Gothic statues of Saint Anne and Saint Blaise from around 1500 have been preserved. Opposite stands the former rectory, a protected late Baroque building from the second half of the 18th century.

The Krser Polední hodiny are another notable testimony to the history of the place. This astronomical cultural heritage consists of two parallel-arranged stone blocks: one bears the year 1874 carved into it, while the other bears the inscription “MERIDIUM”.

Landscape and Settlement Traces

Umíř is an abandoned settlement in the municipality of Krsy and is located in the Manětín Uplands Nature Park. Five wells, several cellars and a chapel have survived there to this day; this chapel is the last remaining building of the settlement, which has since disappeared.

Polínský vrch lies within the cadastral area of the municipality of Krsy. In the municipality, it is a prominent landscape feature and an important element of the landscape. The area contains evidence of prehistoric settlement and a former basalt quarry. Polínský vrch is used, among other things, for climbing and camping.

Views and Traditions

The Krsy Environmental Centre has a viewing point on its southern side, offering views towards the village square, the Church of Saint Lawrence and the picturesque landscape horizon. Krsy hosts a traditional Masopust carnival, to which the municipality of Krsy and the Krsy Volunteer Fire Brigade extend an invitation.
