Lochousice combines a distinctive village centre with traces of a long history and a rural surrounding landscape. The focal point is the village square with the large brick-built Chapel of St Florian, numerous historic farmsteads and two ponds on the Touškovský brook.
Culture and History
The Chapel of St Florian dates from 1847. Its structure has a rectangular nave and a projecting two-storey tower. The chapel and the enclosed grounds are protected.
Lochousice village square is lined with numerous brick-built farmsteads in the late Classicist style. To this day, many of these farmsteads largely retain their gateways, brick-built granaries or elaborately decorated façades of the residential buildings. Barns line the outer edge of the village and are located at the rear of the farmyards, away from the other buildings.
The history of the settlement area also goes back a long way: Lochousice was already inhabited in prehistoric times, as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds. The village was first mentioned in 1186. Historically, Lochousice was owned by Kladruby Monastery.
Villagescape and Landscape
Lochousice lies 6.5 km northwest of Stod in flat to gently sloping terrain. The Touškovský brook flows through the village. Two ponds are located directly on the village square beside the Touškovský brook.
Sport and Equestrian Tradition
The Lochousice multi-purpose sports field is closed most of the time; borrowing the keys must be arranged in advance by telephone or in person. The sports field was created in 2023 by reconstructing a former tennis court and is intended to be available to the general public for sport and recreation.
The Lochousice Equestrian Club is dedicated to recreational and competitive equestrian sport and also welcomes newcomers interested in the sport. The “Hubert Ride” also takes place in Lochousice almost every year.
