The first written mention of Loza appears in a document from 1216.
History and Culture
After 1381, Loza belonged to the Bělá estate of the Lords of Švanberk. Remains of stone walls from the fortress of the Lords of Loza have been preserved beside the road and above the cemetery. The history of the place also includes Otík of Loza, who was an important Hussite military commander.
Loza is considered the birthplace of Mariáš tournaments. The first volený mariáš festival took place in Loza in 1976. In addition, a chapel behind the bridge in the direction of Tlučná is probably the oldest surviving building in the cadastral area of Loza.
Nature
Forests near Loza are home to mushrooms, blueberries, and cranberries. The Bělá stream flows through meadows along the southern edge of the village.
Leisure and Events
The Loza swimming pool complex includes a court for nohejbal or tennis. The complex is used for recreation and sports by local residents and visitors.
The 13th edition of the Jan Drofa Memorial was scheduled for August 22, 2026, at the Loza swimming pool; firefighting competitions were announced for the afternoon. Koupák Loza was scheduled as an alternative music concert at the Loza swimming pool from June 26 to 28, 2026.
The Loza Restaurant at Loza 8 is open year-round and offers daily menus as well as hot meals.
