Líšťany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Líšťany Castle was built in the first quarter of the 18th century as a four-winged Baroque complex on the foundations of a medieval fortress.

Culture

The Church of St Peter and Paul in Líšťany is first mentioned in local chronicles in 1369. The foundation stone of the present church was laid on 20 May 1768. A statue of the Virgin Mary dating from the early 16th century is located on its triumphal arch.

A small chapel dating from the end of the 19th century stands by a road on the outskirts of Líšťany. The building is designed in the Neo-Romanesque style and has a circular, cylindrical floor plan, a conical roof topped with a cross, blind arcades on small columns with cushion capitals, and an arcaded frieze.

History

Near Luhov, the “Vojenský tábor” hillfort area is situated on a promontory above the confluence of the Žebrácký potok and the Mže. The fortified area covers more than 9 hectares. In addition to the farmyard near Luhov, the site of the former fortress and traces of moats have also been preserved.

Near Hunčice lies the ruin of Frumštejn Castle on a promontory southeast of the village. The almost rectangular castle is surrounded by a substantial ditch and an outer rampart. Luhov Castle is indicated as being open to the public during the summer months from June to September. Visitors can see the interiors, including the Black Kitchen, as well as prints by the English artist William Hogarth.

In the wider area around Líšťany, the Hracholusky Reservoir offers opportunities for swimming, hiking, and cycling. Round trips depart from the Hracholusky or Transkemp landing stage; boarding and disembarking are also possible at the Radost landing stage.

The Hracholusky Tourist Information Centre at Lipno 357, Líšťany, provides information about water tourism, fishing, camping, and excursions in the area around the reservoir.
