Štichovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Štichovice lies in the landscape along the middle course of the Střela, 5 km east of Manětín and at an elevation of 458 m. The village is also situated on a plateau above the Manětínský potok stream and belongs to the settlements that mark the boundary of the Horní Střela Nature Park.

Landscape and Nature

The Horní Střela Nature Park protects a deeply incised, meandering valley of the Střela, with typical forests on rocky slopes. Berdovna and Vladař, both mountains, are located in the vicinity of Štichovice. The nearby area also includes the hills of Hůrky [Štichovice] and Citeř [Hvozd - Hodoviz].

History and Villagescape

Štichovice was first mentioned in writing in 1406. In the first half of the 15th century, the village appears among the possessions of the Order of St. John in Manětín. The large, approximately round village green of Štichovice is dominated by a pond.

Chapels, Church and Monuments

The chapel in Štichovice is a small village chapel from the beginning of the 19th century. It has a three-sided apse, a low triangular gable with a sundial, and a roof turret on the ridge. The Church of Saints Peter and Paul is a prominent landmark of Štichovice; its construction dates back to the 14th century, and it was extensively remodelled in the 17th century.

There are numerous crosses, regularly renewed wooden crosses and small stone monuments in Štichovice and its surroundings. Most of the monuments in Štichovice are located at their original sites and are maintained by volunteers from the village.

The stone wayside shrine stands southwest of the village green of Štichovice, on the right side of the road leading from the village towards the so-called New Road to Manětín. The year 1721 is engraved on its base. The wayside shrine is designed as a sandstone cross on a cylindrical column and a rectangular base.
