Hněvnice was first documented as early as 1115. Despite several interruptions, the village remained connected to the Benedictine monks of Kladruby until the dissolution of the monastery in 1785.
History and Culture
The Baroque Church of All Saints (Všech Svatých) in Hněvnice was built in 1737 at the expense of the monastery under Abbot Josef Sieber by an unknown architect. The church was demolished with explosives in 1969. Hněvnice is also one of the places where small chapels were built in the 18th century.
There are three small crosses in Hněvnice and its surroundings; they have also been restored.
Chapels and Landscape
Behind Hněvnice, on the road to Lhota, there is another chapel nestled in the picturesque landscape. A chapel in the direction of Heřmanova Huť has survived to this day and was reconstructed in 2006. There is a place to sit by the chapel with a wide view over the surrounding area.
In 2004, the chapel was saved and became a frequent destination for walks by local residents.
Events
A traditional carnival masked procession was announced for Hněvnice in 2024.
