Vysoká Libyně lies on the eastern, gently sloping hillside of a hilly ridge running from east to west within the Rakovnická pahorkatina uplands. The ridge, connected with Džbán and Bukovec, reaches elevations of 588 and 589 metres above sea level at the respective high points.

History

The historic centre of Vysoká Libyně has been documented since 1337. The Church of Saint Blaise has stood in Vysoká Libyně since the Middle Ages, or more specifically since the second half of the 14th century; an ecclesiastical administration was based there.

Church of Saint Blaise

The Church of Saint Blaise in Vysoká Libyně is originally a Gothic building dating from around the middle of the 14th century. The medieval masonry of the nave and presbytery, a Gothic triumphal arch, a vault, pointed-arch windows in the presbytery, and a southern portal of the nave have been preserved. In the second half of the 18th century, a tower and a sacristy with an oratory may have been added to the Church of Saint Blaise.
