Nýřany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nýřany Town Hall is a Neo-Renaissance building dating from 1885 with a painted ceiling. A monument in front of the town hall commemorates 13 miners who were shot during the strike in 1890.

Culture and History

The single-nave pseudo-Gothic Church of St. Prokop was built in Nýřany between 1903 and 1904. It is dedicated to Saint Prokop, the patron saint of miners.

The Baroque chapel in Nýřany was rebuilt in the 18th century and dedicated to Saint Wenceslas after its restoration in 1991. Next to the chapel stands a stone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1862.

In Nýřany's Humboldtka district, the miners' colony of the former Humboldt mine has been preserved. The Rodinné muzeum hraček adds another cultural highlight; its collection includes porcelain dolls and antique prams, among other items.

Dense forests stretch across the area around Nýřany. The Vejprnický stream is one of four streams named in connection with Nýřany.

The hills Šibeniční vrch [Úherce u Nýřan], Dobrák [Nýřany - Doubrava] and Jetelový vrch [Chotěšov-Hoříkovice] are located in the immediate surroundings of Nýřany. Mount Radyně lies in the wider regional vicinity of Nýřany. The “Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral” church is also located in the area around Nýřany.

Events and Leisure

The Běh města Nýřany is a traditional annual sporting event. The Easter hike “Stopou Janovského vodníka” has been held in Nýřany for many years. At the Koupaliště Nýřany outdoor swimming complex, the multi-purpose sports court serves as a natural ice rink in winter.
