Ledce: Holiday apartments and houses

The Romanesque Church of St. James is one of Ledce’s landmarks; its present appearance is the result of Gothic and Baroque alterations. The village was first mentioned in documents from 1180 to 1182.

History

Kaolin was mined and processed in Ledce until 1968 and 1975, respectively.

Culture

The Church of St. James has a rectangular nave, a narrower chancel, a square west tower, a sacristy, and a chapel. Another landmark of Ledce is a Baroque rectory dating from around 1760.

Below Ledce, at the confluence of the Třemošenka and Bělský streams, lies the Dubský Mill (Dolní ledecký mlýn), which was probably built in the 14th century. The surviving buildings now have no interior furnishings.

Geographical setting

Mount Berdovna lies in the vicinity of Ledce. The Stráž [Chotíkov] hill and the Orlík [Třemošná-Záluží] hill are located in the immediate vicinity of Ledce. Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral is also located in the vicinity of Ledce. Further afield in the region are Mount Radyně and the Church of Svatý Martin.

Experiences

Farmapark u Toma can be visited spontaneously during opening hours without prior reservation. The 18-metre-high stone Krkavec lookout tower opened in 1901. It can be reached on foot and by bicycle; three marked hiking trails in red, blue, and green lead to its summit.
