Mrtník preserves vibrant traditions and traces of history. A masked Masopust procession takes place here every year.

Culture and History

In the northwestern part of Mrtník, historic farmsteads with old gateway structures have preserved their original character. A historic wooden gable can be seen on House No. 7. The three silver hills in the municipal coat of arms commemorate the kaolin that was formerly mined in the locality.

Nature

Forests cover about half of Mrtník’s cadastral area. In cooperation with local associations, the winter hike “Mrtnická šlapka” takes place every year; on December 27, 2025, the 11th edition of this hike was held in Mrtník. There is also a specific connection to cycling tours: the 54 km-long cycling route “Do lesů plných borůvek” runs via the Mrtník turnoff.

Leisure

The Areál Na Výsluní offers refreshments, sanitary facilities, and a children’s playground. The fire-water reservoir in the Areál Na Výsluní may be used for swimming at your own risk. Children’s events are held there every year, including an Easter egg hunt, Children’s Day, an end-of-school-holidays event, and a kite-flying event.

Mrtník is connected to public transport by buses; there is no railway connection there.
