Luženičky: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Luženičky combines distinctive reminders of local history with Baldovské návrší and paths through the landscape. Between chapels, historic farmsteads, a sculpture trail and cycling routes, a vivid picture of the village and its immediate surroundings emerges.

Culture and History

Beside the Chapel of Saint Anthony in Luženičky stands a memorial cross from 1939. The village’s historic properties also preserve distinctive details: Farmstead No. 7 is considered a valuable building with a gate featuring a lintel and a multi-storey house dated 1930. Farmstead No. 5, one of the oldest properties in the municipality, still has an old wooden dovecote.

On Baldovské návrší stands a Baroque hexagonal chapel dedicated to the Most Holy Trinity and built in the 18th century. A clash between the Hussites and the Crusaders took place on the same ridge in 1431. The monument to the Hussite victory on Baldovské návrší lies in the cadastral territory of the municipality of Luženičky and can be reached from there via a yellow-marked hiking trail or an access road. The monument and the Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity on Baldovské návrší offer a semicircular view.

Hiking and Cycling

The sculpture trail on Baldov was created in 2013 as part of the Tusta Sculpta sculptors’ symposium. It begins behind Domažlice in the direction of Luženičky, following a green-marked hiking trail. Another connection between the villages and the landscape is the Baldov loop trail: the 15-kilometre cycling route reaches the signpost junction above Luženičky, where it connects to cycle route No. 3 towards Domažlice. The loop trail passes through hilly terrain and partly along forest roads.

The Surrounding Landscape

The mountains of Spálený vrch, Škarmanka, Čerchov and Dreiwappen lie around Luženičky. The village’s connection with the landscape therefore extends beyond the individual paths and historic sites on Baldovské návrší.
