Pec combines a protected landscape with notable traces of craftsmanship and local history. Highlights include the Dřevorubecké muzeum, Daliborka, the Mlýneček locality and trails through the Český les.

Culture and History

The Dřevorubecké muzeum in Pec was founded in 2006 by the local association for the protection of monuments and the municipal office. It focuses on the lives and work of the inhabitants of Pec pod Čerchovem, as well as on the work, products, working methods and tools of lumberjacks. One section of the museum is dedicated to historic chainsaws; it also provides information about former blast-furnace and glassworks production in Pec pod Čerchovem and displays related exhibits.

The Dřevorubecké muzeum is open from May to September during the main season; there are no fixed opening hours. Visitors should call at least one day in advance to arrange a visit.

Another distinctive detail of the local history is Daliborka in Pec pod Čerchovem. It was completed in 1912 and received its name from its round tower, which resembles a Prague tower.

At the Mlýneček locality, also known as Na Mlýnečku, the pond is often used as a bathing area during the summer months. At the same locality, an abandoned sawmill was converted into a small mill around 1863 by Jan Knopf from Chodov. Milling continued at the Mlýneček mill until 1948.

Nature and Trails

Pec is located in the Český les Protected Landscape Area. Several marked hiking trails pass through Pec. In winter, cross-country skiers use the 13-kilometre cross-country ski trail below Čerchov, known as the Čerchovský okruh.

The Spálený vrch mountain is located near Pec. The mountains Dreiwappen, Škarmanka and Dachsriegel are also located in the vicinity of Pec.
