Milavče: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Milavče stands the Kostel sv. Vojtěcha Church, which was built between 1741 and 1748 on the site of an older chapel. Its nave contains scenes from the life of Saint Adalbert, created by the Pilsen painter F. J. Lux in the period after the mid-18th century.

Culture

On the village green in Milavče, next to the pond, stands Vojtěška, a small polygonal chapel. During severe droughts, processions went to Vojtěška, including from more distant places.

The late Baroque building of the Obecná škola Milavče was built in 1775 and is under strict heritage protection.

Remembrance and art

A memorial plaque was unveiled at the birthplace of the actor Jiří Bittner in Milavče on 27 September 1925. On 10 June 1946, a bust of the actor was also installed beneath the memorial plaque at his birthplace.

Milavče is also the birthplace of the artist Josef Váchal. He created several oil paintings and works in mixed media featuring motifs from his hometown.

Archaeology

The area around Milavče was already settled in the Late Bronze Age. Finds from this period led to the term “milavečská kultura”. Numerous burial mounds were discovered in the surroundings of Milavče in the 19th century.

Nature and trails

Milavče has a railway stop. The village is also connected to an international cycle path leading to Horšovský Týn and onwards towards Plzeň.

The Naučná stezka Milavečské mohyly educational trail leads through the nature of Chodsko and to the oldest monuments of life in Chodsko.
